URGENT! Statement by The President of Łódź Hanna Zdanowska
Dear Łódź citizens,
Subsequent COVID-19 infections in Poland and an emergence of the first case of the infection in Łódź being more and more likely is a new challenge for all of us.
Which is why I decided that all municipal swimming pools, including waterpark “Fala”, theatres, museums and cultural centers, ice rinks, sports halls and other MOSIR facilities be immediately closed. EC1, the zoo and the palm house will be unavailable as well.
We’ve also introduced special safety protocols to schools and kindergartens. Facility directors were instructed to cancel all additional events, meeting and trips.
Special rules will apply also to the Łódź City Hall.
Simultaneously, you’ re kindly asked to comply with medical services recommendations and
consideration for decisions made by the government administration, such as canceling mass events. In Łódź, events that are canceled and postponed include Dbam o Zdrowie Marathon and the Academic Job Fair.
This is the moment when we need to be responsible and solidary, when thinking about our health and safety – we should also help others.
We must remain calm, but also follow basic precautions, not underestimate the threat, but also do not panic. We must be prepared that in the upcoming days the number of cases will increase, and the situation in Poland will resemble the one with which we observe in Western Europe.
People who experience symptoms of the disease are asked for telephone contact indicated by the sanitary and epidemiological services , where you will receive detailed instructions on how to proceed in such a situation.
Please, do remember about our seniors, who are particularly vulnerable to complications related to the disease. Offer help to our older neighbors who, for fear of infection, would like to stay in their homes in the near future.
Remember about your relatives, colleagues and friends, support each other, pass on verified and confirmed information.
The best we can do now is to exercise common sense and strictly follow the recommendations and procedures.
